Republican specialized scientific and practical medical center of surgery named after academician V. Vakhidov
The history of the center goes back to 1973 with the establishment of Tashkent branch of the Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Surgery of the USSR. Professor V. V. Vakhidov was appointed as its director.
From 1993 to 2020, the center was headed by Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor F. G. Nazirov. In 2017, the center received the status of a State Institution and its current name.
Currently, the center is the leading multidisciplinary scientific and medical institution of our country, the guardian and follower of the scientific traditions of advanced surgical schools, the conductor of the latest achievements of world scientific and technological progress into the medical practice of Uzbekistan.
Procedures at the center include heart surgery, reconstructive surgery, surgery of blood vessels and kidney transplantation, surgery of lungs and mediastinum, surgery of the esophagus and stomach, abdominal surgery, surgery of the liver, biliary tract and pancreatic surgery, plastic and aesthetic surgery with the use of microvascular techniques, endoscopic surgery, endovascular surgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation, ultrasound, functional, computer and magnetic resonance imaging, and laboratory diagnostics. The center develops, implements, and successfully applies the most advanced and highly effective methods of diagnosis and treatment.
There are 370 beds: cardiovascular unit has 180 beds and thoraco-abdominal unit has 190 beds.
In total, there are more than 30 clinics and auxiliary units that are mainly headed by Doctors of Medical Sciences.
The center employs more than 35 Doctors of Medical Sciences and 75 Candidates of Medical Sciences.
